Accomodation in Santa Maria
Santa Maria town is situated in the southern part of the island of Sal. It is the most developed, tourist-orientated town in the archipelago. Surfing, windsurfing, diving and fishing are its main activities. Its few wide streets are lined with pastel single-storey houses and much of the area is flat, dry and sandy with no vegetation.
Many new hotels are being built, including luxurious five-stars ones, as well as many new apartment blocks for tourists. Santa Maria is the best equipped for beach holiday: its beautiful 4km. long sandy white beach, upmarket hotels, restaurants with live music, bars and shops tick all the boxes for a great holiday.

- ClubHotel Riu Funana. Situated on the beachfront together with the ClubHotel Riu Garopa,1.5km from Santa Maria centre. 4* Accomodation
- Hotel Morabeza. Built in the 1960s as private house, the hotel has expanded over the years and is now centrally positioned located on the beautiful Santa Maria Beach. The Morabeza offers its guests a wide range of services: a beach restaurant with solarium and bar, an evening restaurant on a magnificent esplanade, a swimming pool, three bars and a night club for the night lovers’ delight. Available also: a hair styling salon, two boutiques, car rental, a children’s club and the sports area.
- Djadsal Holiday Resort. Located next to the beach to the west of town, the hotel is about 1 km from the village of Santa Maria. The resort enjoys a surface of about 50.000 square meters and offers all-inclusive food and drink and all-inclusive sports and entertainment.
- Oasis Belorizonte Resort. On the white sand beach of the Santa Maria beach, just beyond the Morabeza Hotel. There are two swimming pools, whirlpool bath, regular evening entertainment including live music and shows and activities.
- Oasis Novorizonte Resort. Located in first line on the white sand beach of Santa Maria, next to hotel Oasis Belorizonte. The hotel has 130 bungallows, built in between islands of native vegetation and offers all-inclusive food and drink and all-inclusive sports and entertainment.
- Dunas de Sal. Located close to the beach, the hotel has spaces and atmospheres, projected with demand and design, for the conviviality and personal comfort and offers 48 rooms, 1 restaurant, 2 bars, 3 esplanades (1 restaurant), gym, spa, 2 pools and diving centre.
- Porto Antigo Residence. Self catering. The studios and apartments are not far from the Odjo d'Agua and have either sea view or land view with terrace. All of them have air conditioning in the lounge area, fridge, kitchenette with hob, safe, television.There is also a swimming pool, bar and sun beds.
3* Accomodation
- Odjo d'Agua. The hotel is partly built in the sea and it is very well integrated in the village of Santa Maria. Odjo d'Agua has 50 rooms (including 12 suites), it is a hotel full of charm and has a familiar and private environment. It has a private beach, beach-bar, boutique and a pool.
- Sobrado Hotel. Located at the entry of Santa Maria (3min walking from the beach), this small hotel of colonial style is surrounded by palm trees and tropical plants. It has about thirty double or individual rooms, private bathroom, TV, ventilator, terrace, safe.
- Sab Sab Sal Hotel. Located at the east end of town. It is spacious and quiet with gardens, swimming pool, restaurant and bar. It offers standard rooms and suites, all equipped with television, telephone, mini-bar, air conditioning and ceiling fan.
- Pontao Hotel. Located at the west end of town, near the Pirata bar and nightclub, the hotel offers simple yet spacious and attractive accomodation with the beach and the centre of Santa Maria just a short walk away. There is a pool and the rooms are all equipped with television, telephone, mini-bar, air conditioning.

Please Note: Cape Verde is not really considered a backpacking destination, especially if you are after dorm-style accomodation and prices. However, there is no shortage of cheap and affordable accomodation. Prices for a room vary from 2,000$ to 4,000$ (20/40 Euros).
